• Verify professional identity and project context
• Provide customer support
• Improve the Service
• Send marketing communications only with opt-in
• Run advertising and retargeting (see below)

4. Double-Opt-In Sharing

We share your contact details with another user only after both parties explicitly opt in.

6. SMS/Text Messaging

When you provide your phone number through our signup form, you consent to receive text messages from Clappy. We may send you the following types of messages:

• Onboarding messages to help set up your profile
• Match notifications when we find a relevant connection for you
• Periodic check-ins to keep your profile up to date
• Service-related updates about your account

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your activity and matches. You may receive anywhere from a few messages per week to several per day during active onboarding.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from Clappy. After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further texts.

Message and Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. Clappy is not responsible for any charges from your carrier.

Third-Party Sharing: Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties/affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes. SMS consent data and opt-in information will not be shared with any third parties.

Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

7. AI Processing and Third Parties

We use third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). These providers process data under their own policies. We do not permit model training on your data.

8. Data Retention

We retain data for periods consistent with SOC 2 / ISO-aligned practices:

• Profile and matching data: while active plus up to 2 years after deletion
• Communications and transcripts: up to 3 years
• Marketing data: until opt-out, then deleted within 30 days
• Security logs: up to 24 months

You may request deletion at any time.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and monitoring to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; we work to minimize risk.
